The Fund’s goal is to be responsive to our members’ needs, to encourage their involvement in the claims process, and to provide quality claims services in a timely and cost efficient manner.  The claims staff consists of a team of dedicated and experienced claims professionals.  Each Fund member is assigned a specific claims representative to service their workers’ compensation claims and to be available for consultations.

The Fund has enjoyed a successful and stable claims history in an industry that is unpredictable.  The claims management philosophy has had a favorable impact on the Fund’s claims experience.  This philosophy encompasses the following practices:

  • Provide a resource to members through individual assistance and education programs/materials
  • Early and thorough investigation of reported claims
  • Consistent claims handling in strict compliance with the Alabama Workers’ Compensation Law
  • Team approach to claims management which includes an experienced claims staff, insured members, professional medical case managers, reputable surveillance investigators, vocational counselors, and defense attorneys
  • Demonstrated ability to assess case value, evaluate legal environment and negotiate favorable settlements
  • Successful involvement in the mediation process
  • Aggressive defense of lawsuits filed against Fund members
